Lea Weigel completed her Bachelor's degree in Politics and Society as well as Language and Communication in the Globalized Media Society at the University of Bonn. She is currently studying for a Master's degree in Sociology in Frankfurt.

Since 2022, she has been working as a student assistant at FIW with Prof. David Kaldewey and was involved in the research project “Knowledge Politics of School Closures”. In 2023, she co-organized the conference “Negotiating the Fabric of the African University” in Cape Town and is currently supporting the publication of two conference volumes.
