Dr. Julia Schubert
Julia Schubert is a sociologist, exploring interrelations between science and politics. She examines how scientific expertise shapes political realities and how political realities, in turn, determine scientific research topics, cultures, and methods. Empirically, Julia has worked particularly on so-called climate engineering proposals and climate policy more broadly.
Her book “Engineering the Climate: Science, Politics, and Visions of Control” has just been published with Mattering Press, Manchester and is available open access at https://www.matteringpress.org/books/engineering-the-climate
Julia holds a PhD from the University of Bonn, an M.A. from the University of Heidelberg, and a B.A. from the University of Marburg. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the German University for Administrative Sciences, Speyer (Prof. Michael Hölscher), as well as a junior fellow at Bielefeld University’s Institute for Advanced Study (ZiF) and a member of Brown University’s Climate Social Science Network (CSSN).
