Dr. Samuele Dominioni
Since April 2018, Samuele Dominioni works as research fellow at the ISPI (Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale) in Mailand.
Samuele Dominioni completed his Ph.D. double degree in political sciences and political history at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and at the School for Advanced Studies in Lucca. In his Ph.D. dissertation, he focused on the effect of Western democratizing pressure on socialisation mechanisms among political elites. In particular, he investigated if and under which conditions political actors learn rigging strategies. During his Ph.D. he spent a semester as visiting scholar at the department of political sciences at the Columbia University (New York) and a research period at the Ivane Javakhishvili University in Tbilisi (Georgia). His current interests range from the analysis of electoral frauds and malpractices to the study of institutions of representation in nondemocratic regimes. Samuele focuses most of his research activities on the post-Soviet region and on the South Caucasus in particular.
Samuele Dominioni is also Ph.D. Associate at the Centre de Recherche Internationales (CERI) and member of the International Center on Democracy and Democratisation (ICEDD).
