Dr. Wei Jiang worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Forum Internationale Wissenschaft (FIW) at the University of Bonn from 2017–2021. She was a researcher in the DFG-Project “Independent Catholic Movements in Late 19th and Early 20th Century Asia” (PI: Prof. Dr. Adrian Hermann, Dept. Religion Studies). Her research interests include early modern global Christianity, with a particular reference to the Catholic missionary rivalries in China, Japan, and the Philippines. She is also interested in the reception of Italian and European Renaissance ideas in late Ming and early Qing China, as well as in modern South Asian Christianity. She has recently published a book titled “True Catholicism” in Colonial South Asia: The Independent Catholics in Ceylon and India in the late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Centuries. The book is available as open access from Harrassowitz-Verlag.
